Shazzad Khan was born in Dhaka, Bangladesh in 1978. Throughout his childhood, he wanted to be a writer. After graduating from high school, he decided to pursue a career as an artist. At the prestigious Institute of Fine Arts at Dhaka University, he completed his bachelors and masters degrees of fine art, specializing in drawing and painting. During his studies, he pursued opportunities to travel abroad to experience different cultures and artwork. After graduating, Shazzad pursued a range of interesting commission projects that allowed him to work all over Bangladesh. Three open-air sculptures and three thousand square feet long mural at Narayangonj are his notable work. He participated some major national exhibitions like 12th Asian Biennale, 17th National Art Exhibition, 16th Young art Exhibition as well as some group show. His artwork has been displayed in Germany, Italy, Japan, India. Recently he was a finalist of the first Dhaka Art Summit. In 2011, he left to pursue a fellowship in Germany at Heinrich-Heine-University, Düsseldorf. He returned to Bangladesh with renewed inspiration to engage in the vibrant Dhaka art scene. His first solo exhibit, “Fins and Feathers,” held at the Alliance Francaise in March 2012, marked the beginning of this effort.
